Upstate University Hospital’s Mammography Van at Auburn High School May 1: Upstate University Hospital’s Mammography Van will visit Auburn High School at 250 Lake Avenue in Auburn on Monday, May 9, 2023. The screenings will be available between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Appointments are recommended for women who want to get a mammogram in order to to ensure they will be seen that day. To schedule an appointment for a mammogram with the van, women should call 315-464-2588. Appointments can also be requested online at: www.upstate.edu/noexcuses To be eligible for a mammogram on the van, women should be 40 years and older; not have had a mammogram in the past 12 months; and not be experiencing breast problems. Excellence in Education: Auburn High School held our annual Excellence in Education Dinner and Award Ceremony  on March 1 at the Springside Inn .      The senior class members invited to this celebration have maintained a four-year overall average of 95 or higher. Together with their families, these outstanding scholars were honored for their academic achievements and their involvement in our music, athletic and extracurricular programs. A Statement from Superintendent Pirozzolo: Passing of a student: Dear Auburn Families, It is with great sadness that we inform you that Asia Forest, an Auburn Enlarged City School District student attending a BOCES program at Jordan-Elbridge School District, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of February 8, 2023 from a medical issue. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the student's family, friends, and both school communities. The district's crisis team will be available to offer support for students, families, and employees. Booker T. Washington Community Center awarded $2.5 million Community Schools grant to fund programming for Auburn students: The Booker T. Washington Community Center, in partnership with the Auburn Enlarged City School District, applied for the highly competitive Full-Service Community Schools (FSCS) grant program from the U.S. Education Department of Education and was recently awarded funding.   According to the U.S. Department of Education, this year’s grant competition received the largest number of applications in the history of the program. Out of 240 applications, only 42 were able to be funded. The Booker T. Washington Community Center received a 5-year grant of $2,499,770 for their Booker T. Class of 2023 Announcement: Auburn High School Announces Class of 2023 Valedictorian and Salutatorian Auburn High School is proud to announce that Caleb Riley will graduate as Valedictorian and Michael Clark will graduate as Salutatorian of the Class of 2023. Both of these young men are extremely dedicated to their studies and have earned the utmost respect of the faculty and staff at Auburn High School. Auburn High School librarian, Beth Cuddy, named School Librarian of the Year by New York Library Association: Beth Cuddy, Auburn High School Librarian Auburn High School librarian Beth Cuddy has been named School Librarian of the Year. The New York Library Association awarded the honor on Saturday, November 5, at its annual conference in Saratoga Springs. Cayuga Counselors' Association College Night The Auburn High School Counseling Department and the Cayuga Counselors’ Association will again co-sponsor the  Cayuga Area College Night . It is a direct connection to caring support for anyone in mental health distress. Transparency in Health Plan Coverage:    Health plan price transparency helps consumers know the cost of a covered item or service before receiving care. Beginning July 1, 2022, most group health plans and issuers of group or individual health insurance will begin posting pricing information for covered items and services. This pricing information can be used by third parties, such as researchers and app developers to help consumers better understand the costs associated with their health care.
