Class of 2023 Announcement: Auburn High School Announces Class of 2023 Valedictorian and Salutatorian Auburn High School is proud to announce that Caleb Riley will graduate as Valedictorian and Michael Clark will graduate as Salutatorian of the Class of 2023. Both of these young men are extremely dedicated to their studies and have earned the utmost respect of the faculty and staff at Auburn High School. Auburn High School librarian, Beth Cuddy, named School Librarian of the Year by New York Library Association: Beth Cuddy, Auburn High School Librarian Auburn High School librarian Beth Cuddy has been named School Librarian of the Year. The New York Library Association awarded the honor on Saturday, November 5, at its annual conference in Saratoga Springs. Cuddy was nominated by colleagues from the South Central Regional Library Council and Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES for her leadership and professionalism, both in her handling of a challenged library book and through her work with Project Look Sharp, which seeks to help K-16 educators enhance students’ critical thinking, metacognition and civic engagement. “When the book All Boys Aren’t Blue was formally challenged this year, Beth didn’t just participate in the review committee,” Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES ... more >>

Cayuga Counselors' Association College Night The Auburn High School Counseling Department and the Cayuga Counselors’ Association will again co-sponsor the  Cayuga Area College Night . Transparency in Health Plan Coverage:    Health plan price transparency helps consumers know the cost of a covered item or service before receiving care. Beginning July 1, 2022, most group health plans and issuers of group or individual health insurance will begin posting pricing information for covered items and services. This pricing information can be used by third parties, such as researchers and app developers to help consumers better understand the costs associated with their health care. Message from Superintendent Pirozzolo: No threat found at AHS: June 6, 2022 Dear Auburn Families,   Auburn High School went into lockdown this morning after a student reported to an administrator that there was a possibility that another student had a gun in the school.   The Auburn Police Department arrived immediately and put the suspected student into custody while they began investigating. The investigation is now complete, and no gun was found. The police have declared the high school secure and have released students from their classrooms.   Students at Auburn High School were released at 12:30 p.m. today due to the incident.   We take any and all potential threats very seriously and act accordingly. Statement from the Board of Education regarding Buffalo and Uvalde, Texas: In the last few days, we have shared feelings of intense grief and mourning with countless community members, school staff and students over the horrible tragedies in Buffalo and Uvalde, Texas.  In Buffalo, our neighbor Andre Mackneil was killed while shopping for a birthday cake for his 3-year-old son. Our board member Dr. Rhoda Overstreet-Wilson is among so many family members in Auburn who grieve his loss. His loss is also felt by those he touched through refereeing youth sports and with whom he shared his warm smile. On Tuesday, in a town similar in size to our own city, 19 students and 2 adults were killed in another senseless act of premeditated gun violence. Auburn School District to hold Spring Job Fair May 25: The Auburn Enlarged City School District is holding a job fair on Wednesday, May 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at Auburn High School. There will be food trucks on site for attendees to grab a bite to eat throughout the event.   The school district is holding the job fair to recruit for a variety of positions including Special Education teachers, Spanish teacher, Math teacher, librarian, teacher aides, substitute teachers, substitute teacher aides, IT personnel, food service personnel, bus drivers, custodians, substitute custodians, substitute nurses, and more.    Applications will be available at the event, as well as staff to assist with creating resumes.   All job seekers are encouraged to attend this event. Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies at Herman Ave, Genesee, Owasco, and Casey Park Elementary Schools: The Auburn Enlarged City School District is holding several ribbon cutting ceremonies at four of its elementary schools in May to showcase the completed capital project work at each building.   The scheduled ceremonies are at Herman Avenue Elementary on May 9 at 6:30 p.m., Genesee Elementary on May 11 at 6:30 p.m., Owasco Elementary on May 16 at 6:30 p.m., and Casey Park Elementary on May 19 at 6:30 p.m.   All community members are welcome to attend. Upstate University Hospital’s Mammography Van at Auburn High School April 19: Upstate University Hospital’s Mammography Van will be at Auburn High School, 250 Lake Avenue, Auburn on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Screenings will be available between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. for women who have scheduled an appointment.  To schedule an appointment for a mammogram with the van, women should call 315-464-2582. Appointments can also be requested online at: https://www.upstate.edu/mobile-mammography/. To be eligible for a mammogram on the van, women should be 40 years and older, not have had a mammogram in the past 12 months, and not be experiencing breast problems.
