Auburn High School Announces Band Geeks - A New Musical

A high-stepping tribute to high school marching bands and misfits everywhere!

The Auburn High School Musical Dept. will proudly present their Spring musical production of Band Geeks on April 4th, 5th and 6th, 2025. Three performances will take place at Auburn High School, 250 Lake Ave., Auburn, NY. Two evening performances will be at 7:00 p.m. on April 4th and 5th, with one 2:00 p.m. matinee on April 6th. All tickets are general admission seating, with ticket prices set at $14 General Admission, $12 for seniors and students, and $10 for children (12 and under). Tickets will be available for purchase at the door, with future online purchasing available at a later date. 

In the tradition of "Glee" and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, comes Band Geeks, a celebration of the tribulations of the millions who have spent football halftimes pounding out Sousa-like renditions of "Maria." Whether you were in the band, on the team or in the stands, you'll recognize the woes and revel in the fun of Band Geeks.

The Cuyahoga High Marching Beavers are preparing to entertain for another highly anticipated football season. But with dwindling band members and huge budget cuts, the Beavers are close to extinction. Tuba-playing band captain Elliott (Aiden Hodson) and his best friend, perfectionist flutist Laura (Irelynn Vollmer), are determined to save the Beavers and play at the Festival of Champions. However, when ex-football player Jake (Jeremiah Horn) is forced to join the band in order to graduate, the already rough-around-the-edges marching band begins to fall out of step. 

Supporting cast includes Nicole, the twirler girl (Alivia Aubin); Stewart, the overachieving principal’s son (Danny Kato); Spitz, the hot shot trumpeter who actually isn’t all that great (Evan Murphy); Natalia, a classically trained exchange student from Braslovia (Maddie Lovell); Ms. Dixon, the school principal (Amarah Bennett), Mr. Hornsby, the band director (Nick Indelicato); supporting band members Molly (Eden Gadsby), Alvin (Justice Loperfido), Joyce (Jillian Gutelius), and Kyle (Jacob Rumpf), along with an ensemble of assorted band members, color guards, drumline, and dancers.

With book by Tommy Newman and Gordon Greenberg, and music and lyrics by Gaby Alter, Mark Allen, and Tommy Newman, this 2010 stage musical was originally workshopped and produced by Goodspeed Musicals.  Band Geeks - Expanded Cast Version is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). AHS Production team includes: Holly Maltese (Director), Stephen Gamba (Musical Director), Ben Kringer (Accompanist), Seth Kennedy (Set Design), Terri Gadsby (Props Design), and Michelle Chisholm (Costume Design).
