What you need to know about new Seward drop-off, pick-up procedures
Video: New procedure for Seward drop-offs and pick-ups
New procedures for dropping off students in the morning and picking up in the afternoon at Seward Elementary School go into effect on Monday morning, Oct. 28.
Above this story is a video that explains the new procedures.
A new parking lot, entrances, and exits have been added to the west side of the building in an effort to make the process safer for students.
Arrows have been painted on the new asphalt and signage has been posted to help direct drivers, so please be aware.
A new four-way stop has already been added at the intersection of Mary Street and Metcalf Drive.
Please be aware that parking on both sides of Metcalf Drive in front of the school will no longer be allowed between 7 and 9 a.m. and 2 and 4 p.m. on school days. Additionally, be aware that you should not enter the staff parking lot on Kearney Avenue to drop off students.
Students in kindergarten through third grade must now be accompanied to their school entrances, so drivers will have to use the new parking lot and walk them to the building. Another big change is kindergarteners will use the designated A entrance and will no longer use Seward’s main entrance. First graders will continue to use the A entrance as before.
Second and third-graders will use Seward’s B entrance.
Fourth through sixth graders, who don’t have to be escorted by parents, can be dropped off in the newly marked drop-off area and enter through the C entrance.
The main entrance will still be used for school buses.
We urge everyone to be patient and please drive slowly as this new process starts. We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep our students safe.
