Camille Johnson
After 23 years of dedicated service, Camille Johnson is retiring from her role as Assistant Superintendent for Student Services at the Auburn Enlarged City School District. Since joining the district in 2001, Camille has been instrumental in shaping and enhancing student services.
She began her career as the Director of Special Education, quickly advancing to Director of Student Services, where she made significant contributions by designing and implementing the elementary alternative education SPIRIT program that was re-established during the 2022-23 school year at Herman and Owasco elementary schools.
In 2004, Camille took on the role of Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, where she has been a steadfast advocate for student achievement, performance, and equity. Her responsibilities included overseeing tutoring services, alternative education placements, and Superintendent Hearings. Camille played a pivotal role in budget creation, transportation requests, and supervising administrative principals and directors. Camille has been deeply committed to establishing and building relationships with community agencies, including the Department of Social Services, Mental Health, Cayuga Counseling, and family court. She has also served on numerous community boards to improve the lives of children and families. A champion of diversity initiatives, Camille managed grants that brought before and after school programming and a Mobile Dental Clinic to students. Her work as a Homeless Liaison and her collaboration with community agencies have left an indelible mark on the district. Camille’s leadership and dedication have profoundly impacted the Auburn Enlarged City School District, and she will be deeply missed.

Christine Rose
I began working for the Auburn Enlarged City School District in 1996. It was the best professional decision I have ever made.
Genesee Elementary has been my home for the past 28 years. I have met so many wonderful students, staff, and parents. One of my favorite things has been teaching the children of former students. Bonds have been formed with families, and that is what makes Genesee so special.
As I look ba ck, positive memories override any challenges. I will always remember my dear friend, Gail Mangan. We worked closely together in 5th grad e for my first 10 years, and she taught me so much. I will never forget Heather Costello-Bartman, our principal who became a superhero leading our school, while courageously battling cancer.
Then, there was Justin Hodson, my amazing student that tragically lost his life in fifth grade. Aaron Weed is another student I will always remember, whose life was miraculously saved thanks to an organ donor. For over 25 years, I taught side by side with Holly Maltese-Dietsche. I am so grateful for all her help and support each and every day.
In recent years, I had the pleasure to work with two wonderful principals, Sarah Passarello and MaryClaire Pineau. They work so hard leading our school in such a supportive environment. There are so many people that have influenced how I live and who I am. Yes, there were some bad days, but in the end, it was all worth it. I am ready for the next chapter, but will never forget where my story began.

Annie Hoff
I started working for the district in 2007.  I had worked in the medical field prior to this, never in education. I started in the Counseling Office, and even though I tried to transfer to another position many times, it wasn't to be. When I was in high school, this office was called the Guidance Office. I quickly learned why the name was changed to Counseling Office.
In our office, we do much more than guide. We counsel, intervene, support, guide, care, protect and keep students safe. Being the first person most students saw when they walk through the door, I had to learn quickly not to react, to be patient, to listen, to delegate and most important to let students know they are cared for without bias or judgment (much lik e being a parent). I feel like I've helped many, many students get through the highs and lows of high school and I hope all of them remember me with kindness, love and respect.
I have learned so much from my students and I appreciate each and every one of them. I am sad to retire, but I am ready for the next chapter of my life, which includes spending time with my grandson Harlan and doing things I have always wanted to do, but just haven’t had time for.
I will be taking a bit of everything I've learned at Auburn High School, including the disappointments and struggles I have had to endure, and a bit of everyone I have met, students and coworkers included, and will begin what I hope is an interesting, healthy and joyful retirement.
