Two finalists announced in superintendent search
Friday, May 17, 2024The Auburn Enlarged City School District is excited to provide an update on our superintendent search, which has now reached its final phase. This comprehensive process began in January with a community survey that received an overwhelming response, reflecting the strong community engagement and interest in our district's leadership.
Nearly 20 candidates applied for the superintendent position, showcasing a diverse and talented pool of applicants. Through a thorough interview process, the Board of Education carefully narrowed the field to five exceptional leaders. These five semifinalists dedicated an entire day in Auburn, engaging with four stakeholder committees. These committees consisted of nearly 60 interviewers representing our school district and community-at-large.
After thoughtful consideration and deliberation, the Board faced the challenging task of selecting two finalists. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Misty Slavic and Dr. Tanya Wilson-Thevanesan have been chosen as the finalists in our search for the next superintendent of schools.
They will each spend a day in the district at the end of May for their final interviews. The Board of Education is enthusiastic about the future, and confident that the process will yield strong leadership and vision to our district. We look forward to the next steps in this important process and appreciate the continued support and involvement of our community.
