Statement from Superintendent Pirozzolo: Press Release on Investigation

March 4, 2022

Dear Auburn Families,

Late Monday afternoon, the Auburn Police Department received an anonymous letter regarding some concerning behavior between William Morrissey, SRO at Auburn High School, and a student at Auburn High School. On Tuesday morning, the Auburn Police Department contacted the school district to inform us that William Morrissey was placed on administrative leave effective immediately while they started an investigation. On Thursday, Detective Lieutenant Cornelius from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department reached out to the district to inform us that the Auburn Police Department handed the investigation over to them on Wednesday. The district received notice late last night that William Morrissey was charged.

Below are press releases and statements from the Auburn Police Department and the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department. This investigation is ongoing, so if you have any information that could help, please reach out to the Sheriff’s Department directly.

The Auburn Enlarged City School District would like to thank the Auburn Police Department and the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department for acting so quickly on this. The health and safety of our students and employees remains our top priority.

Thank you,

Jeffrey Pirozzolo
