It is with profound sadness that I must inform you of the passing of our Genesee Elementary School Principal, Mrs. Heather Costello-Bartman, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to Mrs. Costello-Bartman’s family and the entire Auburn Enlarged City School District community. During this time, as our school community processes this tragic news and copes with grief, our district’s crisis team will offer counseling and bereavement support services to all of our students and employees.
The death of a school principal is a difficult and challenging situation that can generate a high level of anxiety and distress in some students. If you feel that your child needs to speak to a counselor or another member of the school’s crisis team, please do not hesitate to contact the school to let us know.
This is a difficult time for everyone, and the entire school community should lean on each other as we remember Mrs. Costello-Bartman.
