AECSD In-Person Hybrid Model Resumes January 20
January 14, 2021Dear Auburn Families,
As most of you have already heard, Cayuga County Legislature Chairwoman Aileen McNabb-Coleman and Cayuga County Health Department Director Kathleen Cuddy have announced that schools are able to resume in-person instruction next week due to the decline in positive COVID cases in the county. The 7-day average positivity rate in Cayuga County is currently 8.7%, which has been steadily declining over the last week.
We have continued to keep a close watch on the number of positive cases in our school community as well, and they have also been declining. Last week, we had 40 positive cases in our school district, while we have only had 7 positive cases this week (only 1 in the last 2 days). With that being said, the Auburn Enlarged City School District will be resuming our in-person hybrid learning model as planned next Wednesday, January 20.
Students that are in Group A of our hybrid learning model will resume in-person instruction on Wednesday, January 20, while students in Group B of our hybrid learning model will resume in-person instruction on Thursday, January 21. Students who attend off-site BOCES programs will resume in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 19.
We are excited to see the decline in the positivity rate so that we can resume in-person instruction through our hybrid learning model. We are also excited that many of our employees have already received the first dose of the vaccine. We are on our way to hopefully being able to fully reopen and bring all of our students back for in-person instruction.
Finally, due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday, there will be NO grab-n-go breakfasts or lunches at Auburn Junior High, Casey Park Elementary, and Genesee Elementary on Monday, January 18. Grab-n-go meals will resume on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. As a reminder, these grab-n-go breakfasts and lunches are available to all students within the Auburn Enlarged City School District. Distribution takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Auburn Junior High School, Casey Park Elementary, and Genesee Elementary.
