Studio in Sculpture (5630)

Prerequisite: Studio in Art Foundation. Full year course

Sculpture blends the world of art with technology. We combine both worlds in a highly technical artistic discipline, but still maintain a fun environment. Student's will be using a variety of materials, such as, plaster, wood, wire, clay, papper mache, metal, and much more according to the students project design. Experiencing many kinds of materials and media will help you improve your techniques, and learn about historical and contemporary artist and inspirational artwork. The students will learn and explore basic design principles of three dimensional construction of art. Students will be exposed to theoretical approach to sculpture, and be encouraged to develop, plan, and create orginal works of art.

The instructor will nuture and guide students in creating each piece, while students develop an understanding of how to construct contemporary sculptures, and experience true self-expression. The class's exploratory approach to sculpture provides for a simulating learning environment. Students learn to express themselves through their assignments, while working alongside fellow students to produce a body of work that will be the foundation of skills to take in many creative enterprises.

Sculpture is a great foundation course for students who are pursuing architecture, robotics, toy design, furniture design, and many other three-dimensional construction fields in college. Sketchbook required
