Harvest of Sound to return Sat., Sept. 28; tickets on sale
US Bands is a national organization that supports scholastic music programs, including marching bands, concert bands, color guards, and indoor percussion. US Bands events are judged by top judges from across the country. The Auburn Music Boosters and the Auburn Vanguard are thrilled to be the first to partner with them in upstate New York and to bring this level of marching band competition to the community.
This is the 40th year of Harvest of Sound, which began in 1980 under the direction of Dr. Stephen Gage. There will be a special historian display to commemorate the occasion and alumni who want to share memorabilia are encouraged to reach out to the music boosters. Vanguard Alumni will also be recognized prior to the senior recognition and the presentation of awards.
This year’s Auburn Vanguard show is called Voyage to Valhalla and tells the story of two Vikings who battle each other for supremacy. The Vanguard will perform Voyage to Valhalla at 12:45 p.m.
Presale tickets are available for purchase outside the AHS Band Room from 5 to 6 up.m. on the following dates: Friday, Sept. 20, Monday, Sept. 23, Wednesday, Sept. 25. They will also be for sale on Friday, Sept. 27 at the Maroons home football game.
General parking for this event will be at Cayuga Community College. Handicapped accessible parking will be available at the junior high. Additional parking is available at Auburn Alliance Church, 630 N. Seward Ave. There will be a shuttle bus leaving the church every 15 minutes
from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those wanting to avoid the congestion after the event are encouraged to use this option.
Harvest of Sound has been generously sponsored with the support of WeBuildCNY, Driscoll Masonry, and Auburn Foundry.
