New main office highlight of AJHS capital improvement projects

This is the third in a series of stories that highlights the work happening in all seven Auburn school buildings during the summer.

Capital improvement projects underway at Auburn Junior High School will make its interior safer and cooler. There is also a lot of work going on outside the building.

The biggest project is a complete reconstruction of the main office on the west side of the building. This project also includes a new main entrance that will bolster safety like the district’s elementary schools.

Air conditioning will be installed on the first and second floors of the A wing, the west side of the building. Air conditioning will also be installed in the computer server room.

In the basement, the boiler is being repaired which includes a complete disassembly.

Outside the building, there will be new sidewalks and lighting at the bus loop in front of the main entrance. The staff parking lot on the east side will get new asphalt and seal-coat.

As part of normal summer maintenance, like all Auburn schools, custodians are cleaning classrooms which includes stripping and waxing floors, shampooing carpets and rugs and removing dust and grime from walls and windows.
