Auburn Music Department celebrates Music in Our Schools Month with concerts, events

The Auburn Enlarged City School District is celebrating Music in Our Schools Month with a series of concerts and events throughout March.

“Throughout the month of March, the Auburn Music Department has organized several events highlighting the power of music to foster creativity, collaboration, and cultural understanding,” said Auburn Music Boosters President Allison Fennessy. “Please put these events on your calendar and join us in celebrating music in Auburn’s schools.”

First up is a combined performance of the Auburn High School Band, Orchestra and Choir in a free disco concert that is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6 at the AHS auditorium.

Next week, Auburn Junior High School students will be performing “The Addams Family: The Musical” at 7 p.m. Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at the AJHS auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at this link: https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/81724

On Tuesday, March 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Auburn students in third grade and up and their families are invited to attend an “Instrument Petting Zoo” at AHS where they can try out different musical instruments and ask the music department questions about playing one. Some of the instruments available include the clarinet, the cello, the violin, the baritone and more. Drinks and prizes will be provided by the Auburn Music Boosters.

Auburn High School will be hosting an All-County Orchestra Concert at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 23 and Auburn Junior High School will host a combined concert, “Celebrating Americana” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27.
