Auburn school district to host Parent/Guardian University Jan. 13

The Auburn Enlarged City School District invites parents and guardians to attend its first Parent/Guardian University.

The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13 at Auburn Junior High School.

The sessions will allow parents and guardians to learn about content, ask questions, and leave with some make-and-takes and/or resources to help their children.

“The district is excited to host its first Parent/Guardian University,” said Dr. Renee Burgess, the event organizer and the district’s executive director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Instruction. “We hope to bring in parents and guardians to learn about various topics and equip them with resources to help their children at home. This event will be an excellent way for families to engage, ask questions, and learn more about the curriculum and community-wide resources available.”

There will also be vendors at the event, including the Boy Scouts, Booker T. Washington Community Center, SNAP (Food Bank of CNY), Empower Credit Union (where you can sign your child up for a Dollar Dog account), Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, Auburn Public Theater, the Auburn Fire Department, East Hill Medical Center, and Seymour Library.

Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to visit the vendors between breakout sessions and at the events’ conclusion.

All attendees will be entered into a raffle for various prizes, including four tickets to a Syracuse University men’s basketball game. Other prizes include $100 Apple gift cards, a $10 Nino’s Pizzeria gift card, and a $10 gift card to the Play Space. The drawings will take place at the end of the event at around 10:45 a.m., and you must be present to win.
