Emma Sroka Wins Spelling Bee for the Second Time

Congratulations to Seward Elementary School 6th grader, Emma Sroka, for winning the WCNY Central NY Spelling Bee and moving on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. which will be held May 24 to 29! Her winning word was “depilatory.” This is her second consecutive win at the regional level. Last year her winning word was “deceitful.”

Participants from the Auburn School District in the February 29 Regional competition were (L-R): Landon Lenhart, Gr 6; Carter DeRosa, Gr. 8; John Cuddy, Gr 4; Emma Sroka, Gr 6; and Makayla Hutchinson, Gr 5. The spelling bee will be broadcast at 2 p.m. March 7 on WCNY.
