Announcing New Owasco, Genesee Principals
The Auburn Enlarged City School District welcomes two new elementary principals for the 2019-20 school year!
Jeremy Moore has been appointed as principal of Owasco Elementary and Heather Costello has been named principal of Genesee Elementary.
Moore, an educator with 23 years of experience, spent much of the 2018-19 school year as interim principal of Trumansburg Elementary School. He previously served as an assistant principal at Brockport High School, where he oversaw the math, science and technology departments as well as safety, security and curriculum development. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from SUNY Oneonta, a master’s degree in chemistry education from SUNY Plattsburgh and a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
At Owasco, Moore plans to build strong relationships; facilitate an atmosphere that encourages a growth mindset; and create a culture of acceptance, encouragement, and accountability.
Costello comes to Auburn from Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School, where she served as assistant principal for six years. Previously, she was a band and music teacher at Lyons Elementary School. Costello holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Ithaca College, a master’s degree in music education from Nazareth College and a certificate of advanced study in educational administration from SUNY Brockport.
“I am very excited to get to know the students, staff and families of Genesee Elementary School,” Costello said. “I am looking forward to having a great year!”
